What is it that fuels each and every one of us in this World? Since we got started in 2017, we have found such a sense of fulfillment in Educating our Children and Families while watching them take control of their own health and well being by growing their own organic food sources. We at Heavenly Urban Gardens enjoy writing about our passion for community and family life. What interests us, what interests other people, and sharing the with ones whom we love and interact with every single day. With each passing day, Heavenly Urban Nature Gardens gains more understanding of what is required to fulfill our mission to help our residents gain the knowledge and skills to solve their basic need for healthy foods. In showing by example and getting them involved we allow them to take a leadership role in their own Food insecurities and Social condition. This is Something that many of them feel powerless to change. By helping to Solve the reactionary crisis that arises out of problems with food insecurity in Far Southeast we create a change in the foundational thinking for survival. In the most underserved areas of Washington DC we are Starting with the Youth, we are laying a clear foundation for our children. Like when we Show them the Urban Farmers Way of Planting a seed. We are showing them how to plant seeds of change of hopes of dreams of a better and brighter future. Starting from within to produce change that will eventually show on the outside in their actions and choices. We instill Love as a tool for personal and educational success. We advocate for Change through hands on Education and Social-Economic reform Through Community Engagement and Self Advocacy. In these communities The Socio-Economic remedy for all problems seem to stem from a Root of the Lack of Love, by others, for themselves and their Neighbors. We believe Love secures the other Positive Fruits of Human Action. Kindness, Goodness, Meekness, Patience, Endurance, Self Control, and Joy, With this Fertile environment of Human resources there is even more success in helping to fill the ongoing task of cohesively pulling communities together. Like with Successfully grown Plants it all starts with a seed. Then it becomes all about the environmental factors that determine the out come of the harvest. If we provide the fertile soil the water the nutrients, light and care then the harvest is plentiful and the joy of the produce will be made available to all to benefit from. The benefit is first to their lives and their families then their communities and ultimately the World.

The Farmers Market 2021-22 - With Hun Gardens and Ward8 Farmers Market Congress Heights Recreation Center & MLK Jr Elementary School
We also run a Community Farmers Market during the months of June to the end of October . This gives the students and parents an opportunity to see their work come to market. We sell some of the produce at the market to fund the programs at the Urban Farm Space. We also provide health and wellness venues to the residents, parents , teachers and schools as Congress Heights Rec. and MLK Jr. Elementary School Community. We bring community vendors who sell various products that are unique and creative.

The Garden Spaces will Expand to include Utilization of Satellite Farms for our Community Farmers and serve as HUBS for Youth and Art Education. Featuring Humanitarianism, Business Enterprise, Environmental and STEM Technologies as well as Food Sciences and Agriculture.
Cultural Immersion components specific to Young adults and Youth in Far Southeast DC and Ward 8. Creative and Innovative Community Economic Development Nonprofit and for Profit community Market training. Under our Innovative Agricultural and Entrepreneurial Programs we train Young Future Leaders in Food Equity- Security- Science - Health and Wellness Innovative Aeronautical Engineering, Agricultural, Cultural Immersion, Creative and Innovative Community Economic Development for Evidence based transformations for critical populations of Ward 7/8 and beyond. Recently to include surrounding Metro areas with communities familial ties and demographic proximity.
Expansion of Training in Financial Literature, Community Engagement, Self Advocacy, Home Ownership,and Community Ownership. Environmental Literacy Justice and Advocacy.
An important partnership we established with Lydia's House Community Development Corporation fostering access to community-based training in affordable housing, home ownership, education in financial literacy such as credit repair education and rental assistance programs. The Fairmont Heights Community Development Corporation has linked us with possible grant opportunities as well as technical assistance on home loans, ownership, real estate training and land acquisition.
This is important for expansion and creating security for future generations to obtain wealth. In addition they also give us and our clients access to their financial literacy programs, Business, Entrepreneurship, money management among other technical assistance.
We Create an Open Space for Community Engagement and Dialogue. We communicate daily with the major Tenant associations for the largest apartment complexes in the Far Southeast Collaborative. We have relationships with the leadership of those tenant associations as well as the residence of those associations. We also have community meetings throughout the month with the various community leaders, community churches, houses of worship, community development corporations, Teachers, administrators, Parents, seniors and other key individuals d ofque and creative. We even have anas pioneered the way for the Urban Farm Markets in Washington DC for over 21 years. A Much needed grant will definitely allow us to expand the market to 12 months instead of just the su.
